Reading Frederick Douglass Together

September 24 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Free
To start folks thinking about and getting ready for the Douglass bicentennial, we will hold the DMV’s Inaugural Reading Frederick Douglass Together event on Sunday, September 24th2017 on the African American Civil War Memorial Plaza (or inside the Museum in case of rain), from 1:00 to 4:00 pm.

At that event, we will read selections from two of Douglass’s speeches that strongly resonate today: “What the Black Man Wants” (1865); and “The National Capital” (1875).

All are welcome to join in and take turns reading.
