The next meeting of the DC-Area African American Studies Seminar will be on November 5 at George Washington University’s Gelman Library from 2:00-4:30 pm.
Note: The original date for this meeting had been 10/22, but needed to be rescheduled.
The seminar will be discussing the following two papers:
- Cecilia Cárdenas-Navia (Yale University) – “From Soul Sister to King of Pop: Skin Technologies to Epidermal Transformation in the Melanin Era”
- Izetta Mobley (University of Maryland) – “London Fog: Masculinity, Photography, and Blackness in the Aesthetic Production of Yinka Shonibare and Oscar Wilde”
