A History of Radical Islam Before and After 9/11

On Friday, May 9, 2008, Professor John O. Voll, professor of Islamic history and associate director of the Prince Alwaleed bin Talal Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding at Georgetown University, addressed the history of the radicalization of Islam and discussed how it changed after September 11, 2001.

Voll graduated from Dartmouth College and received his Ph.D. degree from Harvard University. He is the author of Islam: Continuity and Change in the Modern World and co-author, with John L. Esposito, of Islam and Democracy and Makers of Contemporary Islam.

The briefing was held in room 2150 Rayburn Congressional Office Building, from 2:00-3:30 p.m.
