Book Lecture: John Norris on “Mary McGrory”

Author John Norris will discuss his work on Washington journalist Mary McGrory with Don Ritchie, historian emeritus of the Senate.

John Norris, author of Mary McGrory: The First Queen of Journalism, is a senior fellow at the Center for American Progress in Washington, D.C. He has served in a number of senior roles in government, international institutions, and nonprofits, including with the United Nations, the State Department, and the International Crisis Group. Norris has written for The AtlanticThe Washington PostForeign Policy, and numerous other publications.

Don Ritchie, historian emeritus of the Senate, spent four decades providing historical information about the Senate to reporters and often interviewed them about their work.  The result was three books about the media: American Journalists: Getting the StoryPress Gallery: Congress and the Washington Correspondents; and Reporting from Washington: The History of the Washington Press Corps.
