Film Screening: American Feud: A History of Conservatives and Liberals

January 28 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Monday, January 28, 2019 – 6:30pm – 8:30pm
Charles E. Beatley Jr. Central Library, 5005 Duke Street, Alexandria, VA, 22304.
American Feud: A History of Conservatives and Liberals asks whether there really is a Red America and a Blue America, and invites us to not only reconsider the history of these two words but imagine a new future beyond Liberalism, Conservatism, and dysfunctional tribalism. It features interviews from a variety of viewpoints, such as Noam Chomsky, G. Gordon Liddy, Howard Zinn, Kevin Phillips, Mona Charen and Michael Kazin.
This documentary was originally released in 2008, and widely used in the classroom. It was recently pulled from the market and updated to ensure its relevancy to our current political situation. The newly updated version features commentary by Norman Ornstein, Co-Author of It’s Even Worse Than It Looks: How the American Constitutional System Collided With the New Politics of Extremism.
