USCHS: The Rise of Andrew Jackson: Myth, Manipulation, and the Making of Modern Politics

October 24 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

David and Jeanne Heidler will present a book talk on their latest work, The Rise of Andrew Jackson: Myth, Manipulation, and the Making of Modern Politics

David and Jeanne Heidler wrote The Rise of Andrew Jackson: Myth, Manipulation, and the Making of Modern Politics, which Basic Books will be publishing on October 23. The book charts Jackson’s improbable ascent to the White House, centered on the handlers and propagandists who made it possible. After teaching history for many years, the Heidlers retired from the classroom, Jeanne most recently as Professor Emerita of History at the United States Air Force Academy. Meanwhile, their collaborations on research, writing, and editing have resulted in numerous books and articles about the early American Republic, Jacksonian America, and the Civil War.
